Job Description

  • Lead the crew by example and setting the pace
  • Teach job knowledge and skills to others
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations on and off job site
  • Take initiative and delegating tasks to increase productivity
  • Maintain professionalism at all times
  • Ensure that the company truck is operable and properly maintained
  • Use concrete blocks, bricks, and stones to build walls, facades, fireplaces, chimneys and other structures.
  • Read and interpret plans and drawings as they pertain to masonry work
  • Lay out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares and levels
  • Move and stock materials
  • Use mixer to make mortar
  • Erect and use scaffolding correctly
  • Measure and cut stone, brick and block according to specifications
  • Lay the block, brick or stone using the proper pattern, such as running bond or stack bond
  • Inspect subordinate’s work for compliance and/or deficiencies
  • Complete work safely, with quality and within productivity specifications as directed by the foreman or superintendent
  • Working conditions include lifting and placing heavy material such as blocks that weigh more than 40 lbs., working at height, and working outdoors
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch
